DMC Color Chart and Digital Shade Finder

Search embroidery thread references by code or color name, browse digital swatches and compare a HEX color with nearby shades. This chart is a planning aid for choosing a shortlist, not a substitute for real thread. Screen brightness, lighting and material finish can change what you see, so confirm important color choices against a physical DMC shade card.

What the matching score means

The finder converts sRGB values to CIELAB using a D65 white point and ranks them by CIE76 distance. A smaller number means closer stored digital values. It is not CIEDE2000, a measurement of real floss or a guarantee of a visual match. A score of zero only means the reference HEX values match.

Reference coverage and accuracy

This page contains 489 digital entries transcribed from the reference supplied for this project. The HEX values have not been measured from physical thread or independently certified by DMC. The chart is not guaranteed to include every current, discontinued, regional or specialty thread. BeadArtify is not affiliated with DMC.

For final thread selection, consult a physical DMC shade card. Check the product description for the range and edition included.
